The program consists of an 8-hour online component that is comprised of Flash-based narrated PowerPoint lectures, and comprehensive lab assignments followed by an 8-hour live class covering the hands-on and lab components. It is ideal for the busy professional that has intermediate computer skills. A high speed  Internet connection is required.

This two-day live course meets the educational requirements for the ABC Certified Fitter of Therapeutic Shoes application. This live class includes lots of instructor attention in our small classes. It is designed for the individual looking for a traditional classroom learning experience.

The BOC® Footwear Specialist (BOCFS) is an individual trained and qualified to measure, fit and dispense prefabricated therapeutic and functional footwear, foot care products and inserts. Non-custom diabetic footwear, Medicare approved off the shelf, unmodified depth in-lay shoes manufactured to accommodate dual-density diabetic inserts. In addition, a BOCFS is trained in fitting both Pediatric and Athletic Footwear of all types, as well as performing Basic Functional Foot Assessments. A high speed  Internet connection is required.

This live 8-hour live class includes definitions, indications / pathologies, construction, casting demonstrations and a 4-hour hands-on casting lab. This satisfies the BOC Custom Shoe education requirements. Call for class schedule. See outline here.

This CD will guide the student to an advanced knowledge of the tissues and organs that affect the foot and ankle including Dermal Anatomy, Neural Anatomy, Arterial Anatomy, Venous Anatomy, Muscle Anatomy, Skeletal / Joint Anatomy and Ligament Anatomy.

By successfully completing this CD, the student should be able to make decisions regarding safety, organization, and management based on sound legal and ethical considerations, recognize how the systems theory is interwoven into the O & P workplace, recognize Continuous Improvement methods for problem solving, describe the impact of accidents on the O & P area, recognize the elements of liability and how to safeguard O & P Practices from litigation, identify safety and health hazards and educate others on essential processes for hazard control, develop and employ both cognitive and performance safety tests, form safety committees, conduct safety and health inspections, employ principles of good O & P laboratory planning, maintain the O & P workplace laboratory, use fire protection equipment, select and properly use personal protection equipment, and use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

This CD will guide the student to a knowledge of basic management skills needed in order to maintain a successful pedorthic practice. It includes Sources of Medical Referrals, Developing Referring Professionals, Communicating Patient Information, Education, Team Approach to Foot Care, Pricing and Billing, Insurance and Facility Management.

This CD will guide the student to the knowledge and ability to instruct a patient on the potential effectiveness of the pedorthic treatment protocols, and related fees, using clear communication to help a patient understand and accept realistic goals. It will also enable the pedorthist to know what initial questions they should ask of a patient, understand the importance of listening skills, know what type of information may be revealed in an initial patient interview, and show concern for the patient’s problem.
